Care and Tips: Dividing perennials towards the middle of April: Mums every year or two before they are 3 inches tall, yarrow, coreopsis and gaillardia every 2-4 years, daisies and monarda every 3-5 years. And hostas when they are beginning to poke through, feel free to dig up the entire clump. Using a sharp knife or spade, cut the clump in half or more, be sure to leave some root ball and shoots with each new clump; depending on size of the plant you want to remain.
